Parent Based Training for Highly Dependent Adult Children
Many young adults are struggling to “launch” out of their parent’s homes. Multigenerational living can be a cultural preference that serves everyone, however when it is not created by choice, it can cause many internal family issues that are hard on everyone. Young adults may be struggling with anxiety, depression, avoidance, shame, or a myriad of other factors. Their parents may feel scared, frustrated, hopeless or helpless. “Failure to Launch” is a program that was created by Eli Lebowtiz which somewhat mirrors the SPACE program (information linked here) which provides a structured way for parents to work with a therapist to assess the situation and plan ways to help their young adult to become independent.
Of course it is ideal if a young person wants to work with a therapist, but since this is often not the case, this program is designed to be done through working with the parents only,
