The Comprehensive Behavioral ( ComB ) Model is an evidence-based approach for treating Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors ( BFRBs ) such as hair pulling (trichotillomania), skin picking (dermatillomania), and nail biting. ComB focuses on understanding the unique function these behaviors serve for each individual, rather than simply trying to stop them. This method helps identify the triggers—whether sensory, cognitive, emotional, environmental, or motor-related—so that more adaptive strategies can be developed.
